I was a organising committee member and media handler for the International Peace MUN. I grasped onto opportunities that helped create this event successful through the skills I have. Model United Nations has had a profound impact on my creativity and service. From the moment I first joined MUN organising committee, I was inspired to think critically about global issues and develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Participating in Model UN gave me the opportunity to research topics from around the world, present persuasive arguments, and collaborate with other students from different backgrounds. Through this process of exploration and collaboration, I have grown as an individual both creatively and intellectually, and this time I decided to put this experience into the other side of the event, the organising.
LO1: Identify your own strengths and develop areas for growth
In addition to developing my creative thinking skills through Model UN activities such as decoration or designing graphics for the event and their posters to promote participating in MUN organising committee has also helped me become more involved in community service projects related to international affairs. For example, while attending a conference last year on human rights issues around the world ,I became motivated by what I learned there to start a local organization dedicated towards raising awareness of these causes within our own community . This experience taught me how important it is for us all take action when we see injustice happening anywhere across our planet – something that would not have been possible without having participated in Model United Nations beforehand .
Overall ,MUN has been invaluable asset towards cultivating both my creativity skillset as well expanding upon my commitment towards serving others globally . It’s given me insight into current events happening worldwide, inspiring new ideas that can be put into practice here at home – making it easier for me (and many other young people )to make positive change happen wherever we are.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Organising a Model United Nations (MUN) conference has been an enriching experience for me. It has allowed me to develop new skills and demonstrate that I can take on challenges while also providing the opportunity to work with other like-minded individuals.
In preparing for the MUN, I had to take on numerous responsibilities such as developing agendas and researching topics in order to create meaningful debates amongst delegates. This process required extensive research into global issues which helped expand my knowledge base significantly; it was also necessary for me to build relationships with potential sponsors in order ensure that our MUN ran smoothly and successfully. These tasks pushed my organisational abilities beyond what they were previously, allowing me gain valuable insights into how best manage projects from start finish whilst learning how make decisions quickly under pressure – something which is invaluable when working towards deadlines or dealing with difficult situations within a team setting .
The event itself was hugely successful due largely thanks all efforts put forth by myself and fellow organisers beforehand; seeing this hard work pay off provided further motivation continue striving towards ambitions goals both inside outside of academia alike. The lessons learned through organising this event will stay close heart forever more – not only did it give chance hone existing skills but also gave confidence tackle bigger challenges come future endeavours too.
In conclusion, the experience of organizing the IPMUN was a valuable CAS activity that provided me with an opportunity to develop my skills, enhance my learning, and contribute to the community. It was an experience that taught me the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and effective communication in achieving success. I highly recommend participating in similar activities to all students seeking to develop their skills and contribute to their communities.
