Accounts class [Creativity and Activity]

 

As far as my career is concerned, I am planning to pursue my career in Business management. As a result, I took accounting classes as it will help me to  build my company and to keep a check on the financial report of the company. Everyday I used to study 2 hours for 1 year. Through the course I learned the basics of accounting and how it works. CAS gave me the opportunity to sincerely learn accounts. 

LO 4 “shows commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences”. As in DP we have a lot of assignments and deadlines so it was hard to take 2 hours everyday to study accounts. Also my timing of accounting classes were clashing with gym timings, so i had to change my schedule. As I was lagging behind with my TOK submission it was very difficult to take time out for Accounting classes. 

LO 2 “Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.” Learning new concepts was challenging for me, some chapters were difficult for me to understand, but some chapters were easy to understand. It was challenging for me because there were a lot of new concepts and vocabularies to understand and there were math concepts which I had not learned in my academics. I overcome this challenge by asking doubts to my teacher and making notes so that it will help to revise my syllabus. This will help me in the future while doing business in my field. 

The learner profile characteristics I developed during my experience was Inquirer. As I want to pursue my career in business management, it is very important for me to learn accounts to recheck my company’s financial report. Now as I have a basic knowledge of accounting, I can recheck my father’s company accounts status so that there are no errors made. Through this course of 1 year I was successful in learning the basic concepts of accountancy which are taught in grade 11 and 12 in other schools. Through the CAS experience I was able to develop my learner profile characteristics which is Inquirer, as I asked many questions and doubts to the teacher and also looked forward to in-depth knowledge.
