Swappers Stop (creativity)

This was my main project for the CAS. This event was planned in order to bring the concept of a thrift store to our school, and make students understand that it’s not necessary to always buy new things and clothes. I was the head of the collection team and there were many volunteers who helped me to complete my task. We informed the students of grades 11 and 12, to bring their old clothes, games, and books which were still in great condition but they didn’t use anymore. Looking at the quantity and quality of the product, we awarded the students with tokens that had points written on them. The thrift store was placed at Hippodrome in our school and we also had band performances in order to keep the buyers entertained. The students could use their token points in order to buy things that were provided by different students. The learning outcomes that were covered are, LO:- 1,2,3,4,6,7

This project helped me to discover that I was very afraid to go from person to person and request them every day to bring any products so that our event does not get hampered. This project helped me to find different areas of growth. This was how LO1 was covered. As I describe that it was hard for me to communicate with different people, but this project helped me to improve my communication skills although I struggled with pursuing people, This is how LO2 was covered. This project helped me to understand how to organize a project and made me aware of all the heavy planning required in order to make the project successful. firstly we decided upon the overview of the project, that there’s gonna be a thrift store setting, then we figured out that the best way to collect things that people don’t use anymore is from the students itself, then we made different teams such as collection team, decoration team, social media team, and entertainment team. Then we decided upon the venue and all the teams completed their tasks. This is how LO 3 was covered. I was very committed to the project, I worked for almost 2 months in order to make the project successful, and I was constantly asking for feedback from the volunteers and also giving them suggestions about how to overcome the difficulties. This is how LO 4 was covered. The clothes and games that were not purchased by the students were then donated to needy people, covering a major issue of access to clothes, as many people in India do not have access to clothes. This is how LO6 was covered. There were many times that we thought that we should buy clothes from outside so that we had enough resources and it would attract more students to buy. After some time we thought that it was not ethical as the whole motto of this project was to sell used clothes, so we canceled that decision in order to maintain the ethics. This is how LO 7 was covered.
