In the year 2022, I had the privilege of participating in a stage performance during the Teacher’s Day celebration, alongside a group of esteemed students from the 11th and 12th grades. As a fervent enthusiast of the art of dancing, I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to exhibit my talents before my esteemed educators. I performed two songs as part of the performance, which was a truly enriching experience for me, as it granted me the means to express myself through the medium of dance and share my passion with others. Furthermore, the opportunity to perform before a live audience was instrumental in bolstering my self-assurance in my dancing abilities. It is indubitable that dancing serves as an exceptional form of self-expression and an exemplary method of maintaining physical fitness. Perseverance, practice, and effort are prerequisites to excel in any style of dance; however, the fruits of such labor can be vastly rewarding. I anticipate having additional opportunities to continue performing in the future and to develop my skills as a dancer. As a dancer, one of my key attributes is my proficiency in learning choreography at an expedient rate. However, during my recent stage performance, I realized that my stamina and energy levels were not up to par in my dance routine. This led me to acknowledge that this aspect of my dancing required further development. To improve my stamina and energy, I diligently devoted myself to rehearsing the steps and sought constructive feedback from my colleagues in the field. Through this process, I garnered valuable input and suggestions which assisted me in enhancing my performance. With the guidance of my peers, I was able to fine-tune my stamina, energy, and choreography, resulting in a more satisfactory overall performance on the stage. This experience imparted to me the significance of consistently seeking feedback, as well as the merit of self-evaluation and self-improvement. The most challenging part of this process was learning the dance in the amount of time provided. I had to learn 2 dances in only 3 hours which were provided in school. However, through this, I developed my self-management skills as I tried to manage my studies along with learning the dance by practicing it during the session provided and at home. We could not miss our subject slots to practice the dance, hence had to come early in to learn the dance, this was a difficulty that required my commitment. I ensured that I did not miss the early-in sessions so that I learned the dance properly and stayed committed to learning. The performance was a group dance, which required collaboration, as everyone has to perform the steps at the same time so that the dance looks synchronized. In this process, I developed my collaboration skills, by giving inputs on the song preference, and the dance steps choreography and accepting feedback from my peers that helped me improve my dance. Here collaboration was required to give the teachers a good performance. The stage performance during the Teacher’s Day celebration brought me a sense of achievement for me. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the experience of preparing for the performance, but I was also pleased with the outcome of my dance routine. Additionally, the positive reaction and appreciation from the teachers towards the performance further amplified my sense of accomplishment. The event served as a reminder that hard work, dedication, and a love for the art can lead to a successful and fulfilling experience. It also showed me that being able to entertain and delight an audience is a great feeling. The appreciation and feedback from the teachers made me feel validated and motivated to continue pursuing my passion for dancing in the future. |
