This was the first MUN that I had attended, and was very nervous. There were many different committees to opt for but I chose to opt for LOK sabha, as Indian politics has always interested me. It was also a great place to meet with different people across Surat from different schools, as we had many activities between the committee sessions. The learning outcomes that I achieved during this experience are LO1, LO2, LO3, LO6.
Learning outcome 1 :-
During the experience I came across my strength that I was a good speaker and was able to place my points precisely. I also received a special mention from my chair and co-chair but was not able to become a best delegate as I lacked on my research part.
Learning outcome 2 :-
A lot of challenges were undertaken, sometimes I got too excited and made the points which helped the opposition but somehow I backed them up with the help of my allies. Also I kept interrupting other speakers and got a feedback from my chair and co-chair to listen to others. This helped me to develop my listening and communication skills.
Leaning outcome 3 :-
Although attending the MUN for the first time I received a very powerful man to represent, who is Farook Abdullah, due to this I had a lot of research work to be done so I dedicated one hour of my day in the research task. As a representative of a powerful man I had to speak in almost every committee session.
Learning outcome 6 :-
MUN helps to discuss about the global issues and make an solution to that issue. The agenda of our committee was privatization of public assets done by government, which increases the income inequality. Discussing the pros and cons of privatization helped us to make a judgement that whether it is right or not to privatize public assets.
