I wanted to learn how to make jewelry like necklaces and bracelets for myself because I have never really felt satisfied with the type of jewelry I have bought from other stores and brands. I wanted to learn how to make my own so that I can make what I like and be satisfied with it.
For this I had to go out to buy jewelry materials such as beads, wires, strings and thread, I also had to get jewelry making tools. After I collected all these materials, I started randomly putting beads together in aesthetic ways and that is how I created my very first handmade necklace. I was very proud of it and I remember making a lot more necklaces and bracelets. It was a very fun experience where I learned something new and I have now developed a hobby to create unique and different jewelry.
The LO I am focusing on here is LO1, and L03:
L1 (Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth) is demonstrated here as I identified where my creative interest lies, I would describe myself as a creative individual who likes to paint, draw and create new things/objects, I had to sole desire to create something, which make it my strength. As to areas for growth, I still had to have the skill to make jewelry, as in how to used the tool and how to create certain patterns in jewelry.
L3 ( initiate and plan a CAS experience) is demonstrated here as I made up a plan as to how I am going to carry out this CAS experience. Firstly, I had to go to a local store near the area I live in to buy jewelry material such as beads, wire, thread and other jewelry tools such as a wire holder, cutter, etc. The I had to make time in my everyday schedule to give myself time to be able to be creative and make these necklaces and bracelets that I would like.
The learner profile most suitable here would be a thinker as I will be actively thinking and designing the jewelry, as in this case, I wanted to make necklaces, so I had to brainstorm ideas and then create what I would want to. And to create ideas on the design of the jewelry, I thought critically, I put together beads to see if they looked nice or not, etc. This CAS experience gave me a euphoric feeling as I was very happy in the end when i got to make and wear the type of jewelry i would like.
