I was always fascinated by space and as a result decided that I wanted to be an astronomer.I realized that this course would be great for me to get into the basics of astronomy and Astrophysics. However I also had a lot of school work and I didn’t have the time to check the course out, after a while I did try the course but didn’t have enough knowledge to understand and after studying in grade 11 I had learned the basics I needed to be fulfilled, and finally I decided to start the course as my CAS experience.
As the course started the initial part was easy, it only explained about blackholes and other things but as the course went forward the hard part started to set in, but since I had already learned the basics in grade 11 the coursework was a little bit easier than I expected. The differential calculus part of the course went quite smoothly since I had not only studied it before but also practiced it a lot but when the integral calculus part of the course came, it gave me some trouble since I had only learned differential calculus not integral, but the course also gave a few videos on showing on how to solve integral calculus problems which helped me a lot, the issue was that it still wasn’t enough. So I decided to do some practice before I went ahead with the course.
There some things that were new to me like geodesic line and Redshifts, Hubble’s law and the principle of cosmology, since these are the basics of astrophysics, learning these topics was very crucial if I wanted to go ahead with astrophysics as my career choice.
In conclusion, learning this course was not only fun but extremely crucial for my further studies and after completing the course, I feel much more confident about taking astronomy as my career choice.
