I visited gaushala, which is a place where cows A goshala is a protective shelter for cattle in India. Cows are considered sacred in the Hindu religion and so goshalas are a refuge for them. In a goshala, cattle are respected, venerated and treated with dignity. I visited gaushala for 3-4 times to provide food to cows. As CAS project motivated me to do something for environment and I saw students planting and cleaning beaches where my first thought was thinking something for animals and then thought of are mother animal – cow. I thought the basic need of milk in our life is through cows and I though giving them food could return the favour to them this is how I thought of taking it as one of my CAS experience
LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Animals are suffering from food scarcity issues especially for cows their intake of food has reduced as humans are facing food security issues so animals are on even worse case and looking after them is our job because they are part of our ecosystem which needs to be taken care of and to solve this problem I went to gaushala to provide them food so that I could also contribute to help the state of animals facing food scarcity issues.
LO 7- Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
it is not ethical correct to put cows in a gaushala because we keep cows on one place where cows are been locked in a shelter which is not morally correct because after all its cows choice to live wherever they want to but getting them closed in a shelter questions the ethical concerns of the gaushalas and it is important for government to look into the management of gaushala very keenly.
learner profile-
responsible- we should be responsible towards our environment and specially animals who are usually ignored when talked about environment by doing this experience I have gained a lot more careful and responsible towards feeding food to animals and also reflected on me how I waste food because I am provided with no food security issues which is why I am wasting food whereas living beings like cows who do sometimes do not get any percentage food a day so seeing on their situation has motivated me to become responsible about my consumption of food.
