I’ve had a fascination with automobiles since I was a child. The engine components, the designing, I used to disassemble the die-cast models I had collected, modify them, and repaint them. Sometimes I would just paint them and leave it as a shell. I’ve now built a mountain out of those shells. With the help of this course, I was able to dig deeper into the designing aspect of the automobile industry. This course was lead by an expert named, Micheal Santoro. The course taught me about how to draw smooth lines, drawing freehand circles, style and technique with speed forms.
The Learning outcomes covered in this experience were Learning Outcome 1 – Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth. Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. Learning Outcome 4 – Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences.
Firstly, talking about LO 1 – Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth, my strength is that I have knowledge about automobiles but very little prior experience about designing cars; yet, this course assisted me in developing my skill set regarding automotive designing. Moving on to LO 2 – Demonstrate challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process, even though the course was just 35 minutes long, it took me a month to finish it, the most difficult part was practising the techniques and that was the most significant challenge for me. In the end, it helped me develop my automobile designing skills.
Lastly, Learning outcome 4 – Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences. Because this was my favourite experience, I was completely committed to it. The lesson sparked my interest so much that I spent hours mastering these techniques on weekends.
