Description of the particular experience and goals:
Working out is an activity that includes exercising with the assistance of various machines, weights and other equipment. In this experience, I went to gym regularly and did a combination of workouts. Each workout focused on a different body part everyday. This experience helped me tone my body, build strength and improve my endurance. Working out also releases endorphins which helps with mental stress. Overall, working out as an experience was very useful to me physically and mentally.
Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
While going to the gym, I found out my strengths and weaknesses. Identifying my strengths and weaknesses really helped me improve my overall body strength and appreciate the good abilities I have. Each exercise focuses on a different part of the body therefore I was able to perform some exercises effortlessly however other exercises took extra effort and were difficult to perform. I learned that my core is strong since I was able to perform exercises like plank, sit ups and crunches easily. Alternatively, I got to know that my arm strength is weak since it was not easy for me to execute exercises like push ups and pull ups.
Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Initially, going to the gym daily was a challenging task for me since I did not have the physical fitness required for working out everyday. I had limited my physical activities in the lockdown so my stamina and strength reduced. I was unable to perform all the exercises and got very tired by the end of the day. This impacted my studies as well as my social well being because I used to be energy drained. After a while, my strength and stamina increased since I was delicately working out everyday and I followed a healthy diet to maintain my energy level. This helped me get back to my routine which included studying daily and spending time with loved ones. I was able to overcome the challenges I faced. I am glad that I faced this challenge since I learned to show commitment and balance in my life.
Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
This experience includes working out everyday throughout the week in order to be effective on the body. With school and other extra curricular activities, it is difficult to take time out everyday and work out. However, I made sure to not miss my training sessions because I wanted to show commitment and perseverance. It is extremely important to stay committed to something that you are putting your energy in so that the experience is effective and helpful for you. It is usually not likely of me to show commitment and stay persistent nevertheless I am delighted that I showed did while working out because if you skip working out for even some amount of days then your body goes back to the stamina that you had and all the progress you made is wasted.
