Exploring French culture is one of the enchanting things. French culture has played a vital role in shaping the world’s arts, cultures, cuisines, and fashion. With these, Our French team and my few friends decided to organize a french event with a lot of fun activities, food, and music. This event is more about exploring french culture and cuisines (especially desert). I opted for this event as an Event organizer since I am in love with the French capital and their environment with different types of architecture and fashion culture.
Before Starting, I knew that it was a bit challenging for me since, planning an event needs lots of effort and skills. A major challenge I faced was to curate an event that was unique from the past year to preserve the theme and notion of the event. This event was largely done as a teacher-led event but this year students had an opportunity to execute it. While planning, I brainstormed different ideas and themes to work upon. However, to be more accurate me and my groupmates sat together and express our ideas to each other to avoid any misunderstanding. I was very confident about my own strength since I like to be more creative and be in the position of leadership. One major thing I learned was to work under deadlines and avoid procrastination with a team for such an event.
At the start, we entered into planning the event since it was the toughest/challenging part of the event. We need to ensure that all the decoration and stall arrangement is ready a day prior to the event. The intention of the event was to spread knowledge about the french culture and language and sweet delicacies. We made a spreadsheet that was owned by the French team and my group to ensure all the planning is going as they intend to. We listed all the major things which we need to achieve first for example guest list and resources required so that the procurement could be done efficiently and easily manageable.
This event took place in mid-December and that was the time when we need to hand in all the assignments and need to prepare for our academic test. I had to show commitment by coming early in to the school or missing my free classes to finish all the pending work assigned to me during this event. Even though I had my personal work I showed my perseverance by completing all the work assigned to me. However, I opt-in to work collaboratively with my peers which was a huge advantage to make this event more successful since few people were better at logistics while others were better in their decision-making and art skills. We ensure that the labor work was assigned proportionally to everyone to reduce biases.
Overall, This experience was one of the best ones while working collaboratively with everyone since decision-making was one of the major things to come up with and avoid any misconceptions of the pursuit of knowledge.
