This event was very special, as it was hosted for the people who help us on a day-to-day basis. These people are the administrative staff and support staff of our school. The purpose of this event was to show gratitude towards them and say “Thank You” to them for helping us in any situation and with any work. We organized many different fun activities such as, “Tug of War”.etc. The timing of this event was similar to their weekend working hours (8:00 AM to 3:30 PM). (LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience, LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experience, and LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively).
This event was given into the hands of grade – 12 students and in order to make this event successful there was a need for volunteers. The volunteers were guided and briefed by the event manager, the volunteers were asked to be present at the venue an hour before to complete all the preparations, which was completed in the time duration. Since the event required many volunteers, there were about 28 – 30 volunteers present. In order to work efficiently, it required well-established communication between the volunteers and highly collaborative work in order to complete all the work on time, so the start time of the event does not get hampered. Even though the event was planned to go on for only a day, it went on for approximately 7 to 8 hours, since it was during school hours. To make the event successful, there was a high commitment required. Volunteers were required to show enthusiasm during the whole event and make the support staff feel energetic, relaxed, and feel appreciated. Being an extrovert person, it was easy for me to mix up with different volunteers and work collaboratively. This helped me to stick to my schedule and get things like organizing ring games.
