Project 1 – Freshers Party | Creativity-Activity-Service

The Freshers Party was a school event where we as seniors threw a welcoming party for the juniors as the enter IBDP. I was the part of the organizing comitte that planned a wonderful event for them to have fun. We had tressure hunts, flash mobs, games and dance. It nearly took us a month and a half to plan this event. It would have been quicker, however with all the time spent outside school and time we were granted in school was very minimal. At the end we managed and were able to throw a fabulous party.

LO 3 – Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

We were a small group and had a lot of work to do. We had planned it out to the smallest detail. Our main obstacle was to find time to work together for which our planning was very important. We had different classes in school and not everyone had the same free slots. All those with the same free slots were given same tasks so they could work together and complete the task faster. Our plan helped overcome all the obstacles that we faced effeciently. Furthermore, our planning was supervised by Subhlaxmi maam which allowed no errors in preparation. At every stage of planning and preparation we got it approved by the supervisor to avoid any mistakes and last minute hurdles. At the end we threw a great party that all of our juniors enjoyed, all thanks to our efficient plan and teamwork.

LO 6 – Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

We made use of lots and lots of paper as we had to make envolopes with 5 of clues in it for approximately 150 people. And more paper for the decorations and clothes for decorations too. However, we realised that using paper will just go to waste and such actions lead to encouragement of deforestration. We decided to use waste or used paper such as worksheets or used chart papers or pages from very old notebooks. Even though this step may be insignificant on a global level we learnt that if people like us start to realise more people will and at the end can make this a more sustainable place for everyone to live. Moreover, there was food that was leftover. That food was packed and given in slum areas for them. Finally, the year had just started and we hope are going to have more and more events. So that resources are not wasted, we properly took down the decorations so that they can be reused.

LO 7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Our each action was essential for the party and planning. We had to make sure that it was ethically right. We were a bunch of teenagers and we might feel something is right when it is not. Especially while making the tressure hunt clues. For which our surpervisor helped avoiding making such decisions. A few clues ended up as too hard for them and was given to a few groups only, however, our supervisor made us correct the hindrance and were able to make a fair game. Nonetheless, our idea of using waste and used resources was in support for the global sustainibility and was an action that my peers and I were proud of.
