LO’s 1,5,7
Anand Utsav was an event organized by grade 12 students for the school’s support staff and administration staff. This event included a variety of fun activities, dances, and team building activities designed specifically for staff members to enjoy while taking a break from their duties. This was a way for us, as students, to express our appreciation for the services they provided to us.
I was a member of the on-site volunteering team and participated in games for the staff members such as balloon chain and garba (traditional dance). I also assisted with event decor, such as venue arrangements, poster sticking, poster creation, and resource management on the day of the event.
LO 1: We were supposed to be assigned stalls where we were supposed to make the support staff play games or do some activity; I was assigned the stall where they were supposed to play a game, and I was responsible for explaining the game to them since I am fairly good at communicating. So I used my strength to get them to grasp the concept of the game and even play it. As a result, identifying my strengths and weaknesses aided me in performing at my best during the event.
LO 5: Demonstrate your abilities and recognise the advantages of working collaboratively. I was part of a team for the Anand Utsav, and we were given orders as per our hierarchies . Because this was a large-scale event, collaborating was essential, and as a volunteer, I was also responsible for helping wherever I was needed, which was critical to ensuring that everything ran smoothly. Because the event was taking place at two locations at the same time, time management and communication with everyone was key .
LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions I chose to volunteer in this event because it reminded me of the ideology of giving back to others and and this event was a great way and the more positivity and happiness you give others the three times you will receive it back helped me recognize the statement of an act of kindness that is given from the heart and this event really helped me showcase that I believed that the services provided to us by the support and administrative staff must be recognized by us as students to give them something back for helping us all these years that we have been in school , and thus volunteering at Anand Utsav was an excellent way for me to express my appreciation.
My experience at Anand Utsav was memorable because it forced me to step outside of my comfort zone and learn new skills, such as making friendly conversation with a stranger. This was the first time we interacted with the support and administrative staff in such a casual setting. Throughout the event, I was able to demonstrate the learner profile ‘caring.’ It demonstrated empathy and, most importantly, respect for all staff members.
