I have always been fond of trying new things out and it has been that way for as long as I can remember. CAS in grades 11 and 12 gave me the opportunity to be the better version of myself and try something new during my vacations, something that I wasn’t familiar with, something that was very challenging so I and my friends decided to go for a trek at the Deo Tibba base camp which was 14,000ft above the sea level. My main goals of going on the trek were getting to socialize with new people and also getting the sense of satisfaction that I completed the trek. All in all the trek was a great experience where I learned many new things and also became the best version of myself where I let my decisions get the best out of me.
LO1:- My strengths during the trek were that I was able to connect with everyone and didn’t have a problem finding people to spend time with, also one good thing was that it took a long time for me to get tired hence I was able to complete the trek. As such there were no weaknesses during the trek which made it very easy for me and my friends.
LO4:- What made this activity difficult and very challenging for all of us were the low oxygen levels and the harsh weather conditions which made it very difficult for us to climb. And commitment was one thing that was needed in order to complete the trek. For me, it is usually very easy to commit to the things that I really want to do, in other cases it takes me some time but since completing this trek was very important to me, committing to this wasn’t a problem.
My final takeaways from this CAS experience are that commitment is what leads to success which is exactly what happened during the trek, also the learner profile attribute that I showcased during this experience was risk-taker as this was something new to me, and completing this was very challenging. Getting to perform this experience was a great experience for me and I had a lot of fun.
