Nowadays people are getting more towards reading novels and books which made me think of organizing of book fair in our school. My group and I am going to plan an event named ‘Gratitude Book Fair’ through which we could help people read and donate amount of profit to an NGO. The books which were displayed on the stall have been donated by the people who have read the book twice and thrice and given books scrap but we organize an event in which they could donate the books and give them to others who haven’t yet read that book. And in return, they could donate the amount that they want or could take it free of cost. The profit was donated to NGO named ‘Unitree’ for wellbeing of other students to gather the stationary for them.
LO 1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Strengths – After this event planning this event I get to know about my design skill. I make some unique and attractive posters and animations for the event. This helped me to get some new ideas about my career path.
Weakness – Communication skills for selling the books to the people, giving information about the book they are looking for through which they could have there own perfect match of book to read. Through this I improved my communication skills and spread some knowledge about the book.
LO 2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Collecting the donated books was a big challenge for our group to spread awareness about the event and encourage people to donate their old books which they have read previously, as it was my first time so it was a bit difficult to get the book for display. To overcome this we planned to create some eye catchy posters that could help in spreading awareness and even I contributed to making the design of the posters. It is important to learn new skills to explore something new in our daily lives.
LO 3 Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Organizing the event was a huge task in such a shorter time and with IB deadlines it is difficult to plan this CAS experience as we have to collect the books and bifurcate them accordingly for the event such as in genre-wise, old or new, etc. But it is also important that we maintain the condition of the book to sell good condition book. Taking about planning the event and initiating in the way it has to be so all the credits goes to every group member as they even worked harder to push the event successfully.
LO 5 Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
It is generally easy to work with other for me as it makes the work more easier and make the work more effective and faster. It is important to work collaboratively with other as to initiate the event more fluently and with more better ideas. Teamwork is important as it demonstrate to amount of efforts that every people has kept to initiate the event. Interacting with new people and enjoying the event as it also improved my communication skills. It is important to work collaboratively with others as it makes the work easier.
LO 6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
Issue was the quality resources for every student who could not afford the stationaries for the studies, for the gathering the amount from the event for them and some good new books. Globally there are many student who cannot buy every stationary for themselves, so it is important to look after this kind of global issues.
LO 7 Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
As everyone was first timer so it was difficult to make the decision for the event about the planning and indirectly we decide to bifurcate the work according to the choses and skills to neutralize amount efforts among us. This will also make the work faster as we were in shortage of time.
