In this CAS experience, I wanted to paint a lot of snakes in different shapes and forms, in just one medium, watercolor, basically like an ‘anatomy’ study but for snakes. I chose to do this because i have always been indulged in arts and i love to try new things out, i wanted to grow my art skills and so i chose to do this.
The first learning outcome was showcased here (Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth). I have loved painting and drawing growing up, being one of my favorite hobbies and I wanted to develop my skills. Painting helped me relax and it made me learn time management and balance in general. By being able to grow my skills I found more confidence in myself and it resulted into performing better overall in life.
I focused on LO4 too (show commitment to and preserving in CAS experience) for this experience, I had to give commitment and time to each snake that I painted, I spend almost 15-20 mins sketching and painting a snake and another 15 mins to add details to my painting. For preserving these painting, I varnished each snake painting and kept it to dry before I put them away.
The learner profile applicable here is being a risk-taker as I am trying to learn something that I had never tried before and I was scared to, which is using watercolors only to paint snake. I had never painted snakes and I also had never used watercolors, and because of this I was scared to use watercolors and paint snakes because I could disappoint myself and the end result may bring my self esteem low, but in the end I was very happy with how my snakes turned out.
