Swappers Stop was an event planned by the BM Team, it was for practicing and promoting sustainability. The event was about swapping clothes, books, accessories, and promoting sustainability by purchasing pre-loved materials. For the event, my role was of one of the food-coordinators.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Throughout the entire time span of planning the event, there had been several disputes regarding just the food that was going to be kept on the food stalls. Till the day before, we had issues with the food items, the dishes were changed at the end moment and people had event backed out. A skill I got learn and more importantly experience was how to manage during a crisis (crisis management). Around 8:30pm we were informed that one of the key food item was not going to be available for the other day, we had to immediately find an alternate solution to that. Initially, we were all worried sick about how we would manage but once we calmed down we arranged another item and had gotten it outsourced instead.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Working collaboratively was one of the major problems for this event, there were so many members that kept on getting added to the team that by the end we had completely lost track. There were some that weren’t going to do anything but instead helped the most at the end and some that completely disappeared when the time had come. No doubt at the end everyone came together to help each other when problems had arise, but being able to working together since the beginning was hard.
LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
The main idea of this event was to promote consumption sustainably, by exchanging clothes, reusing resources and through this event we were able to spread awareness for the same.
