Description of the experience:

IPMUN is an international peace model of the United Nations-supported by UNHCR. I was on the organizing committee for this MUN and it was a helpful experience for me as I learned a lot of things. This was a 2-day event, and all of us worked very hard in order to make this event a success.

Learning outcome 2:

I learned a lot of new skills and developed a handful of new knowledge. I learned how you should debate and present yourself in a MUN because of the delegates. I got an update on all the current affairs around the world. This CAS experience also gave me an opportunity to explore the organization as part of such huge events. I have organized quite a few events but all of them have been informal social events. This event was a formal one. This was a very helpful event for me. Also, I got to learn how to control a set of people, in the MUN there were times when the debate got very heated and we had to cool it down, especially being in Lok Sabha.

Learning outcome 4:

This was a 2 full-day event. The most challenging part for me was that I had just recovered from a leg injury – a fracture in the ankle. Hand in hand, I was not assigned a committee which is why I didn’t get to sit. By the end of the first day, my commitment to the event went downhill. I could not even walk, I had bruises and swelling on my foot. But I woke up the other day and made sure my leg was healed. I went there, helped everybody in the organizing of this event, and made sure I persisted and showed commitment to this CAS experience.

Learning outcome 5:

There were a lot of people involved in this CAS experience which is why putting my social hat on was the most important thing. The first duty that I was assigned was the registration of all the delegates who had enrolled for this MUN. There were a lot of miscommunications done by the ones who were my heads which is why the delegates were all very confused and I had to manage their allocations on the spot. The situation was very delicate as it was morning and everybody was frustrated because of the confusion, also because it was also very hot, which is why everybody was getting irritated. Although, in the end, everything worked out. Coordinating with the chairs was also very eventful as they needed a lot of things which weren’t available as it was a weekend, so then we had to manage with the chairs and make them understand that things weren’t available. All in all, collaboration was a key skill for this event.
