During the start of grade 11 I was very confused about what would be my career, which country I’m going to select, would be the courses, and in grade 11 DP starts so we have to select a subject and this made me really confused and frustrated about my future. And also in the DP subject selection form, there were group 2 subjects for 2nd subject other than language. At that time though I persuade with Hindi then I realized that if I’m planning to go abroad after the 12th then I shouldn’t have chosen Hindi instead I should followup with french, but due to some reasons, I was not able to because for that than again I need to change few of my subjects because I had chosen Hindi HL and shifting from HL and SL is a big deal because again I need to change another subject from SL to HL and vice versa. So this was a problem for me, so decided to persuade the things as they are going right now. But I still wanted to learn french so I just did surfing on my mobile to see if there was any other way to learn french, through that I got this app named Duolingo from which about 500 million people like me were learning new languages. So it was interesting for me and I started learning french from it. Duolingo teaches its user in a fun way from the basics to advance and it hardly takes 15 mins on an average for any person to spend learning new terms on an everyday basis which was the best option for me to learn a new language by just spending 10-15 mins a day.
LO 1 – I was a bit familiar with french because in my 8th grade in St Xavier’s school I had selected french as my 2nd language which helped while resuming learning french from Duolingo and I was able to read and now some of the sentences and easily catch up with the lessons. But there were some of the weaknesses which I faced was with complex sentences so I wouldn’t be able to interpret the meaning but with the daily practice and dedication I catch up with my weakness and now I’m completely familiar with this language.
LO 2 – One of the challenges which I was facing during the start of Duolingo was time management as I was not able to manage the time, so basically I was not giving much attention to Duolingo or even 5 mins to it which impacted me as lose of daily practice and also shows my poor time management skills and due to which I was not able to maintain my streak in Duolingo. But as time passed and I became more passionate about learning a new language anyhow motivated me to spend at least 15 mins from my busy schedule and work to learn a new language.
LO 4 – As once I became familiar with the application I regularly work on it and show commitments to complete at least 3 tasks a day, also the questions were fun, easy, and interactive which kept me engaged to learn more and more french by excluding time from my time frame.
