Crumple was an initiative taken up by the students of the eleventh grade. The initiative is about producing used papers which can be used for various reasons. It helped us to learn a way to recycle paper so that we can manage our usage of it and reuse it whenever we want. Not only this, but we also looked into a simplified process through which anyone with the right materials would be able to do this action and that could then make usable paper from other used papers they have. Through this experience, we can gain a better understanding of the process and provide a sort of service to the community as all paper produced has been given to someone to produce books.

Learning Outcome 1:

Here the main challenge that was needed to be overcome was the challenge of learning a new skill from scratch. Since I had never done any activity relating to the recycling of any material, I was very unaware of how the process went and so it was important to firstly identify the challenge taking into account skill and prior experiences. Once this was done, we were then able to do this, we were able to learn the skill easily and clearly.

Learning Outcome 2:

Through the process, I have been able to learn a new skill that helps make usable paper from scrap paper. The skill over here was a process that would help in the future by giving a new method of production of a product in doubt due to scarcity. The manner through which we were able to learn a new technique was quite challenging as even the idea of the project was very alien to us and so doing and learning such a process in under 1 hour and 30 minutes proved to be a challenging task.

Learning Outcome 4:

Here it was important to keep on trying to make paper, even though sometimes the result was unwanted. We had to show commitment as a group so that we were able to achieve the goals that we had set for ourselves. We had to commit to the process our full focus and attention so we do not mess up during the procedure and then we also had to inspect each and every finished piece so that we are able to provide the finished material that is apt and usable.

Learning Outcome 5:

This wasn’t a one-man process. For the procedure to be successful, a chain of work needed to be in place, and for a chain, many people needed to be present in the process. It was an important part of the process for everyone to work as a unit so that we were able to maximize profit efficiently. We needed to be able to understand each other’s roles and responsibilities so as to not have a communication gap.

Learning Outcome 6:

Through the process and event, we not only wanted to make the paper more accessible but also wanted to use it as a front to promote the recycling of paper to make the planet a better place. Many trees are cut down in the name of paper manufacturing and even though companies claim that they plant the same number of trees that they cut, these trees take time to grow and with a lack of trees, oxygen on the planet would start depleting. Even though it won’t count as a major step towards the conservation of trees, we wanted to play our part in the cause.
