I was interested to do painting since I was a child and also went to drawing class from when I was 6 years old till I was 10 years old, Unitree gave me an opportunity to do wall painting with different people and also kids who were affected by down syndrome. This experience helped me to understand struggles that the kids faced in the society and also do the thing that I liked to do as a kid. The learning outcome which I achieved during this experience are LO4 and LO6.
Learning outcome 4 :-
The difficult part during this experience was working with the down syndrome kids because I’ve never been able to talk to any kids with disorders and I didn’t knew that what to talk and what not to. It made me feel vulnerable as I wanted to interact with them but didn’t knew what to talk. The commitment that was required is to “no matter what, I had to interact with the kids so I can know about them and don’t make any judgement from what people say” I think that it is easy for me to commit to things and to be persistent because I don’t care about what other people think. Showing commitment is necessary because it is a key value and by having that value you can do things that you have decided to do and doesn’t care about what other people think.
Learning outcome 6 :-
The issues were that kids were not considered as normal people and were not involved anywhere. This is a global issue because kids with down syndrome are born everywhere in the world and faces many problems during their growing stage as they are bullied in their school and not involved in any kinds of activities that people unaffected by the syndrome does. Knowing about global issue helps me to grow as a person because it enlightens me about the difficulties they face and also helps me to understand that how to interact with them. I feel devastated when I hear about this global issue. My work in the CAS activity makes me feel good because I interacted with the kids and gave a feeling of friends and family to them.
