→ I was always kind and liked being helpful to others in any way I could. MY parents always encouraged me to participate in some charity events and volunteer in it, but due to my burdening studies I was not able to do so, but after a few months when I joined fountainhead school I finally got the opportunity to volunteer in such things because of CAS. So at the beginning of my 11th grade, I decided to volunteer in a famous NGO named Chhanyado.

Lo-1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

→ During this CAS experience, I faced my greatest challenge of social anxiety which I believed until now. I faced this problem for many years which prevented me from participating in many social activities such as MUN, or any other school activities, etc, but during the time period of this activity, I didn’t get scared of the people whom I was gonna talk with or whom I was going to help. In this activity, the main purpose was to provide and serve food to people who needed it the most and the NGO with whom I worked has been doing it for many years in various places in Surat such as New civil hospital, etc. This helped me outcome my greatest fear of social anxiety.

Lo-2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
→ This CAS experience required me to have social and people skills which I didn’t have due to my issue with social anxiety, but as time went I had realized that my fear of social anxiety was going away and the people with whom I worked the short period of time had started to like me. This made me very happy as I was not known for my people skills but overall this activity increased my social skills.

Lo – 3 Demonstrate how to  initiate a CAS experience 

→ The main problem in this CAS experience was to make a proper timetable to maximize my service in the NGO. After knowing all the periods I decided to work in the NGO during the weekends when there is no school.

Lo-5 Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

→ the main reason which I think allowed this NGO to be successful was that they were working together as a team irrespective of their religion, race, etc. They put their differences aside to help other people. There were different jobs assigned to different people which made the task easier.

Lo – 6 Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

→The main reason for this NGO to start was to help eradicate the global issue of hunger. According to recent studies, millions of people die every day due to their starvation, millions of small children die due to lack of access to clean water and nutritious food. Thus this NGO decided to start a small movement to help people who were suffering from starvation.
