For my CAS project, I decided to start a flower shop with my sister and a classmate. We created an Instagram account and promoted it using Instagram ads. Apart from creating the products, I also communicate with the suppliers and customers and help in photoshoots. We have received many orders and continue running it from our home.

Recently, to give back to the community, we took some money from our earnings of this month and bought pizza boxes, and distributed them to less privileged children.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

In the beginning, it was a little challenging since I had never done anything similar to it. It was also getting difficult to organize all the orders, which is why, we then created a book where we noted down all the orders, as well as our finance. Another challenge we faced was delivery. We observed that many people found delivery more convenient than pick-up, hence we hired a third party as a delivery partner. It was important for us to undertake this challenge because it opened us to receiving orders from many different areas in town.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Like I mentioned before, to organize ourselves, we created a book where we put all our orders and finance. While planning and initiating, we also learned and developed new skills. For instance, we created some of our posts and logos using Canva. I also developed communication skills ad time management skills while communicating with suppliers and customers. Because of this, planning and initiating something in the future will be easier for me.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Being committed and persistent to this project was quite difficult because at times we had to go out of town and so had to temporarily stop again and again. Yet, we still managed to run at most times. This is very important because if there’s no consistency, you will gradually lose customers.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Working with others can sometimes be challenging for me, however, since it was my sister I was working with, it was very easy and smooth. We would distribute tasks and jobs, and would still be able to make the products if one of us were busy. However, working with others such as our flower vendors and delivery partners has been difficult sometimes. But through this, I learned the importance of being able to work collaboratively with others.
