1. Feeding stray dogs in my community.Service.

My purpose for selecting this CAS experience is that whenever I see a stray dog I always see them either searching for food in the dustbin or eating something harmful to their body. So to minimize the trouble which occurs to them I have come up with this CAS experience. So, I had been feeding stray dogs once in 2 days for 2 months because if I feed them every day then they will be completely relied on me for their food so to avoid that I had fed them once in 2 days. The food I had been feeding them was cooked rice with curd and also sometimes dog food. the components in this were service. this CAS experience come under service as it does collaborative and reciprocal engagement with the community in response to an authentic need

So the learning outcomes for this experience were 2,5,7. learning outcome number 2 was Demonstrating that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. the challenges I faced during this was that due to them being hit or scared away by rocks they don’t trust any human easily so it was a very difficult part for me to gain their trust and feed them, they were scared at first then usually the bonding increased and they started trusting me. One more hard part was that now every time I go past them they are always after me and waiting for me to feed them which breaks my heart. a new skill I developed in this process was developing synergy and bond with animals before this even I was scared to go near them as people used to sit they will attack me but I realized that they will only attack the basis of my intention is to them. Learning outcome number 5 Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively. So, the benefits of working collaboratively were not playing a big role in this but I had done some collaboration with local vendors as I didn’t want to spend all my money on buying so much rice every once in 2 days so i asked the local vendor to give me the leftover rice which was not sold and was going to be thrown after 1 day which the vendor agreed to as I told him the cause behind it. the learning outcome number 7 Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions. So, I was fully aware of the action I was taking as feeding dogs cooked rice with curd is not harmful to them although it was beneficial to them.

The learner profile attribute for this experience was caring as it is going to bring a positive impact on the life of the strays and also I showed commitment to them. Is there any link between your subject and the CAS experience? If yes, How is it connected? this activity benefited the stray dogs who have no one to take care of them as it was taking away their hunger for them. the highlight of this experience for me was how good I felt after seeing them wagging their ails left to right then right to left after and before there being given their food. my perspectives about stray dogs had been challenged as before this experience I used to be scared of them but now I am completely fine walking past them as I had built a certain type of bond which would make them not attack me but defend me and also I was always near them with a good intention. this experience made me feel very good and brought a sense of enjoyment to me remembering I have to feed them. I learned a lot of various stuff from this experience that seeing others happy also makes you happy, even feeding rice can change their lives. I would not change anything about this activity if I did it again.

The conclusion from this CAS experience is that I learned a lot of stuff like makings others happy makes you happy, you should treat stray dogs as a family, give from what you get, and also what you give out to the universe comes back to you so always do good things. thankyou.
