Activity-Teaching dance to the underprivileged children
Goal- To make them feel alive and happy since they deserve to have fun and to rejoice in their hobbies too

I learned the basic Gujarati words, once I figured they weren’t familiar and comfortable with left and right.
LO2
The Challenge was to get those kids to not create a ruckus in the class since they were pretty young and just wanted to have fun.
Overcame the challenge by incorporating their fun and ‘masti’ into dance moves.
For instance, came up with these few moves: ‘chakki banao taali’ , ‘patang udao’
Felt great when they started enjoying their dance moves, it was important for me to take this challenge as a person who truly loves dance, it felt necessary to give back to society.
I developed the skill of not just thinking about the steps as the dancer, but also thinking through my feelings, letting it all out, and letting it flow. It helps me add more emotion to my dance and makes it more authentic; just spending some time with them helped me develop this skill.
LO3
Organized me by making a timetable for myself which included the time(seconds) of the song to be covered after each session.
Not an organized person but after several CAS experiences improved on it, since this wasn’t the first CAS experience, I took care of both plannings and initiated, allocated appropriate time for each activity(added extra time for factors out of my hand) due to which I didn’t face any particular difficulties there.

Commitment to not just make the easiest dance and leave
I put in the effort to develop their skills, to understand the bases of their dancing, working on it to enhance it
Important to stay committed since it is my action, my integrity and I must do justice to my word
LO5
Working with others is generally easy as I am an outgoing person
At first, the children were creating a ruckus and not letting me conduct my class, at that time I felt like quitting the hard work but
Once I connected with them (after troubling to maintain the discipline to teach the dance)and made the fun dancing steps as mentioned above, it was easy working with them
It was important to collaborate with them since the main goal was to make THEM happy
I had to be determined and committed, to make time from my routine, despite their ungrateful attitude towards the start, to come to an amazing end towards the end.
LO6
The issue was due to poverty or other external factors, underprivileged children not getting to have fun and enjoy their childhood
Due to the financial crisis, most of them are supposed to work and I know this since whenever I go to locations where construction is taking place, several times I see child workers.
They deserve a happy childhood too, due to which I decided to take this action; by doing this I was able to add more emotion to my dance, which contributes to my personal growth.
It makes me feel less guilty since I decided to do something about it, further, I posted on my open Instagram page, such that other change-makers could be fueled and motivated by my actions.
LO7
Parental consent: once I had a dispute with one of the parents who thought it was better to not send the child there and instead make them work.
It is a grey area and despite my feelings, I couldn’t do anything else for the child since legally the parent had the upper hand.
It made me feel a tad angry and my opinion of legal guardianship changed a bit from pro to con after I encountered this scenario.
LP’s:
Communicator: when teaching the dance moves
Thinker: coming up with new ways to connect and collaborate with the children
Open-minded: when dealing with the parent since from their perspective, they needed the money and I didn’t judge them
Highlight: the joyful look on their faces after dancing, them smiling and behaving like children(like how they are supposed to); them coming to high-five me and showcasing their gratitude to me for taking this initiative.
