I have always liked to play badminton but I was not able to learn the sport, I practised it a few days a week for a month or 2 but I didn’t learn much, I was never able to rally with someone and hardly it the shuttle coming towards me, so I decided to use this opportunity and take it up as my cas so that I would get to learn a new interesting sport, it is a bit easier than tennis due to the aerodynamics, I have wanted to play the sport.
LO 1 –
Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
I understood my skills, and my weaknesses and strategized my practice that focused more on a rally and lesser on service and smash as in those skills I was well versed.
LO 2 –
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
I did many rally practices and services, and I did this to have control of the shuttle so that in a match I would have better mobility and movement making it difficult for the opposition to score a point on me, I practised the rally so I would be more accurate, I also learnt different types of service and hand styles like backhand and forehand.
LO 3-
Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
I created a detailed plan to understand what skills I should focus on and what I should do
I decided to work mostly on rally and service and less on smash and spin.
LO 4-
. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
I had shown perseverance by working hard and continuously practising lawn tennis, I had been having a few rallies from different speeds so I would learn how to adapt to different speeds, I also served a lot to get perfect control on the shuttle, and I committed to learning badminton and practised a lot to refine my skills.
LO 5-
5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
I have been practising with 2 of my friends so we had collaboratively practised and explained my mistakes so that I would improve faster and even better, they explained to me my rally wasn’t happening because I didn’t have good agility and my aim wasn’t landing correctly as my racket handling was also wrong.
