Volunteering at Anand Utsav (Service)

Anand Utsav was an event organized by grade 12 students to show gratitude towards support staff and admin. The event included games and other activities which the staff could partake in to have a good time.

L1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for
growth

My biggest strength is that I’m good with people, I can communicate well with them in a language which they are comfortable in. I can crack jokes and build a light and easygoing atmosphere which allows them to de stress and enjoy. I was getting along with them and creating a friendly environment, so we could fulfil our purpose of giving them Anand ‘joy’.

L5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits
of working collaboratively

I was a volunteer for this event, my responsibility was to help the team to prepare for the event, decorate the locations and conduct the games. Working in a group helped us offer end number of games to the staff and come up with unique twist in conventional games which made it more enjoyable. Working in group also made it easier to communicate to the staff as if one volunteer doesn’t speak Gujarati the other one can explain the game fluently and another one demonstrate the game.

L7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and
actions

Our staff team works very hard throughout the day so that we can have a good learning experience and environment at Fountainhead. This being our senior year I wanted to show gratitude and hence I volunteered for this event. We are very thankful for what they do for us and it’s our choice to give back to them by participating in this event.

In conclusion, my experience as a volunteer for Anand Utsav was an opportunity to develop my skills in working collaboratively, identifying my own strengths and areas for growth, and recognizing and considering the ethics of choices and actions. Through this event, I was able to contribute to creating a fun and enjoyable experience for the support staff and admin, and show gratitude for their hard work and dedication. It was a valuable learning experience that allowed me to grow as an individual and make a positive impact on my community.
