ON-DAY volunteering at the IPMUN.

I have always been on a lookout to find work where I can build my character and learn and gain more responsibility and experience and when I heard that IPMUN was going to be taking place in Surat, instead of registering myself as a delegate I volunteered to become an on-day volunteer for the same. This is a very tough and rigorous responsibility that one is entitled to during a MUN, where the volunteers are responsible for the decor, for the committee sessions and all the ‘rushing here to there to get help and more for the same.

L5-. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Because there was a full committee of on-day volunteers, with around 10-15 volunteers, and 2 of them assigned to the same committee it was very important for all the volunteers to constantly keep in contact with the Core Committee and the Organizing committee, and other ON DAYs and if all of us were not working together then it would have resulted in a disaster with no work being done and hence because all were in synch and in agreement with one another the 2 days of the MUN went smoothly, with no fights and no disruptions in the committee.

L2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken developing new skills & L4-commitment and perseverance.

There were a lot of challenges that were undertaken in the two long days of MUN, one of them was the long working hours, as volunteers were required to be there in the university from 7 am to 10 pm while setting the place up for socials and so much work, which was really tiring, and hence was a huge challenge. One of the other challenges faced was showing perseverance, it was very important or the volunteers to not slack off and stay in the committee that they were assigned to sit in, however, everyone wanted to be in Lok Sabha and see the session so held back on personal urges was also a problem. It was also a challenge to help coordinate some of the events in the FSMUN when we did not get the resources we required and obtaining them was also a very difficult task. So, the key to making it through the challenges was to show perseverance throughout the full two days and still find the courage to go back the second.

To conclude, volunteering at IPMUN was a very insightful, fun, and engaging experience. And one that taught me responsibility and the importance of being focused.
