LO :7 (Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions)

My friends and I considered using CAS as a chance to help clean the beach after knowing about the rise in waste at our very own Dumas Beach. We organised a WhatsApp group and shared the entire strategy there. starting with transportation, gathering the necessary supplies, such garbage bags and gloves, and creating a schedule. Over the course of a month, we ran this experiment every weekend. To prevent delays, the entire timeline was established before the strategy was put into action. According to our ability, we divided up the various responsibilities among us, such as gathering materials, setting up transportation, and arranging for food and drink. It was fascinating to plan the courses, and it gave me practise organising and leading events.

Working together was easier because we were a team. It simplified the planning process and made carrying out the strategy easier. As was already noted, pre-planning was completed quickly and with less work than anticipated. We divided the region into smaller sections so that we could manually gather as much debris and garbage as possible while covering more terrain in less time. This action was a crucial choice that had a positive effect. Working collaboratively makes a difference in the way work is done; it not only promotes efficiency but also prompt action.

Environmental concerns were addressed in this encounter; the environment is in danger as a result of people’s foolish behaviour. The rubbish that is dumped on beaches and in water is harmful to life beneath the surface. Waste, particularly plastic, is consumed by domestic animals, affecting their health. The environmental pollution caused by the cluster garbage dumped on beaches is caused by harmful fumes. Teamwork and beach cleanup contributed to a small improvement in the environment. If everyone recognises their wrongdoing and takes action to change it, this small change can grow into a much larger one. Knowing that such problems aren’t taken seriously by the public makes me personally feel terrible, yet this experience might have inspired bystanders or at the very least made us aware of the implications. In this event, we as a group made sure to do the right thing and help the environment as well as the garbage pickers and employees since it is principled to examine the ethics of decisions and actions. This gave us pride in addition to happiness.
