WALL PAINTING

I am not a big fan of painting but sometimes when I have leisure time I like to paint or draw because drawing and painting random things make me happy. This wall painting was organized by Unitree to bring down syndrome kids together and build bonds with them. Unitree organizes such events to help these kids build bonds with others and have fun with the goal of reducing inequalities. This time it was wall painting.

I volunteered here for wall painting where there was a big “WE” drawn on a wall and we were supposed to paint that along with those children. The drawing was divided into parts so everyone gets equal parts to paint. While painting we also interacted with those kids; laughed, played and enjoyed.it was a long time since i did something for community and something creative, which felt really good.

Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

After the experience was able to identify my own strength and areas for growth.I was able to paint but it was kidn of messy but the areas of growth that i developed through the experience were my painting skills got a little better than before, and my communication and social skills also developed.

Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertakendeveloping new skills in the process:

During the events, there were many challenges that i faced, firstly from my childhood I was very shy and faced a lot of problems while talking to new people and interacting with those kids and other people present there was very hard for me but trying that made it a little easy after while and during that event my social and my communications skills improved. Later in the event, i was easily able to converse with them and was able to enjoy myself with them.

Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

working collaboratively played an important role in the event as we only had one day and only one wall to paint on as there were many people working collaboratively to use one wall in the given time was very important which was succesfully conducted. working collaboratively also helped us interact with the kids efficiently and also this helped the kids feel that they belong in society.

Learning Outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

This event was based solely on the down syndrome kids. For the past many years, people have neglected these kids as a part of their society which not only has been a domestic problem but a global problem. This experience was just a small step toward solving this issue. The problem has become better than before as now people have started accepting and have opened arms to these kids.\
