Volunteering in Monsoon Musings

A Literary event named ‘Wordwise’ was held in Fountainhead school by a few grade 11 students on 27th November. People came to recite their literary pieces and this event was a huge turnout. As a volunteer, I contributed my time and effort to the decoration, management, and organization of the event.

This event was held near my SATs, I couldn’t help but manage my work and studies accordingly. This made the experience more challenging, I had to take out time to work on the assigned tasks. I showed commitment by coming to help whenever I could during my slots, early-ins, and extra time. I showed perseverance by helping in every department as needed and was committed to my given tasks.

Volunteering in this event was a collaborative task, everyone in the decoration committee interacted and decided upon the final themes and ideas. Working with people is easy for me, everyone pitched in with amazing ideas, and together we combined our ideas to get the best of it. We all enjoyed the time we spent preparing and decorating, with different set skills that everyone had made the task a lot more easier and fun.

One of the biggest aims for conducting this event was to make it sustainable from the theme to the decorations by recycling the waste and making use of old decorations. Our actions and choices showed that even without the usage of plastic decorations and materials we were capable of successfully executing the event in such a beautiful environment.
