Architecture has always been a passion from my very childhood and been interested in knowing different designing stuff. To dive deeper into this field of knowledge, I decided to pursue this goal of mine by learning a designing software “AutoCAD” which is a computer-aided software program created by Autodesk that enables drafters, architects, engineers, and other experienced professionals to create two dimensional and three-dimensional models of solid surfaces and meshes in it.
learning outcome 1:
firstly, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. While talking about Pros: I am very good at designing at a basic level but in this experience, I had to research and through valid guidance, I, at last, learned many new commands and how to operate this software. To be honest, it took me a lot of time and effort to learn these new commands and stuff. I gave like 1 to 2 hours daily behind this to reach a level where I can independently make designs. The entire experience went smooth and was very helpful at last.
Learning outcomes 2 and 3:
I faced many challenges during this experience of learning AutoCAD. Firstly it took me a lot of time just learning about how different commands function and how to operate them. The biggest challenge behind this was that I had to give at least 1-2 hours daily behind this and while doing this I couldn’t focus on my studies so I had to organize my timings and manage stuff. moreover, I had to learn many new rules during this experience, like there should be a specific minimum size for each room, the size of the wall, the distance between each space and minimum requirements for this, and many more. SO I had to go through these basics first before constructing a basic floor plan wherein my father helped me learn all this quickly due to his knowledge in this profession. I started from tinker cad to learn much new software by Autodesk but this was a new and unique experience that was a real challenge for me.
learning outcome 4:
From the very beginning, I was clear that this experience is not at all easy and a thing that could be just learned without sacrificing my time and efforts. From that moment I stayed fixed to my commitment that in 3 months I reach a level where I could independently make 2d plans and showcase my skill to everyone.
To conclude, I enjoyed this experience as it was fun and pretty interesting to learn a new skill that is related to my career. Through this, I also got to know the difficulty and efforts which I would have to devote to pursue this field of architecture and this knowledge I gained will help me further too.
