Learning Badminton / Activity (CAS experience)

(LO’s : Strength & Growth, Learning new skills and commitment to and perseverance)

I wanted to learn a new sport since the beginning of this pandemic as I had a lot of free time, hence I decided to learn badminton as a part of my CAS. I decided to learn it through YouTube it was impossible for me to attend classes and manage school at the same time. Me along with my 2 other friends, we mutually decided that all of us will help each other improve so we started learning it by watching videos.

I am not at all good at racquet sports and due to that it took more than enough time to grasp and learn new things, my hand movement was also really poor and I badly needed to work on it. There were also a lot of other things which I needed to work on and thanks to this I got the opportunity to improve my game.

My focus was to learn new shots, improve my backhand, and also do a better service. I watched several youtube videos and tried to learn these skills by recording myself and reflecting on it. This allowed me to correct or improve on my form by simply watching myself play.

This required a lot of perseverance and commitment because I had to wake up early every day for straight three weeks and play badminton, it became a little tiring in the end but was totally worth it.
