Being an OC member of IPMUN(CAS project)

Most of the time I’ve been a delegate in MUN and working alone then lobbying the whole committee is something I’ve always been good at but for a change, I decided to be a part of a team and work with others as an organizing committee member to develop my people skills instead of being an individual delegate and debating.

LO 1:

One of my biggest strengths is formal communication along with time management skills, these strengths will help me get my work(that an organizing committee member had to do) on time. Not only that but I had participated in 5 MUNs earlier hence it was easy for me to cope with work, and getting delegates since I already knew the duties to be performed by an organizing committee member. A few of my weaknesses are lacking in creativity and decoration, due to that I couldn’t contribute by giving different decoration ideas for various events that were to be held on those 2 days. I feel known and informed now that I am aware of my strengths and weakness, this gives me a chance to work on my weakness and make my strengths stronger. It is important for us to know our strengths or weaknesses as with knowledge we can use them in real life as they’ll help us come out from any problems, work on them and develop ourselves. Overcoming my weakness is as essential as making my strength stronger as that’ll lead to my growth, and improvement and help me build myself for upcoming years.

LO 2:

I’ve been part of the organizing committee of model united nations for FSMUN but since it was associated with school working was easy whereas this wasn’t done with school authorities there was more work to do and everything has to be done by the committee with precision and collaboration. During this activity, I learned how to be part of a team, get along with other people, and combine their strengths and weaknesses.

LO 3:

It was challenging as many times collaboration was a necessity despite differences of opinions, hence to co-operate was not an option but a requirement. Future planning and initiating at a early stage and in advance would lead to a successful event like the MUN. It is important to know how to plan and initiate activities so the order and activities of the particular event run smoothly.

LO 4:

Showing commitment to and perseverance in this activity was necessary as being part of the organizing committee I had certain roles and responsibilities to work on and finish with fixed deadlines, such as calling delegates and reassuring them whether or not they’ll be participating in the Model United Nations, finding delegates and etc. It was easy to commit to things because I used to make sure that my work is done within my given time frame.

LO 5:

Working with people in a casual or intimate setting is challenging for me since talking about myself or opening up to others makes me appear conceited or self-absorbed, which is simply not who I am. While in a formal setting I may demonstrate my diverse skill set to benefit both myself and others.

LO 6:

Discussions, formal debates, and solutions to significant global issues such as the Russia-Ukraine war, the Situation of Kashmiri pandits and etc. As a youth of this generation, this era, gaining knowledge and information, knowing about significant global issues is very vital in order to maintain peace for generations after us and to make sure they don’t become a part of the world filled with hatred, unjust and war. Knowing these global issues is going to help me become an aware teenager which is the first step taken towards making our globe peaceful.

LO 7: There were no specific issues involved besides that as an organization we would want to abide by ethics and morals, following roles and responsibilities of being a youth or a teenager in this society. In the end moment, our venues changed but we still had to abide by moral values and find the right way out of this.

After IPMUN I’ve learned a lot about being a member of a team, working with different kinds of people who have diverse and distinct sets of skills, combining them, and composing a successful event that is memorable for everyone. This activity has definitely helped me become a “we” person than the “me” person I was.
