Monsoon Musings

Cooking is a hobby that I picked up recently. It was when the covid pandemic hit, like most people I decided to take up a hobby and I chose cooking. I used to cook a little bit but since there were studies and other things I couldn’t really engage in the hobby but when the pandemic hit, I had an opportunity to improve my cooking skills, after a while I did get better at cooking. CAS was a great opportunity to use my hobby.

Me and a couple of my friends decided that we would set up a dessert stall and the profit that we earned we would donate to charity. I decided that I would make a chocolate mousse, my friends decided that they would make vanilla and chocolate sponge cake. I tried finding some videos for making eggless mouse since most of the customers would either be vegetarian or Jain, which initially gave me a little trouble but after some research I found the video that suited me the best, and just in case I decided to take help from a person. The making of the mousse went smoothly, there were no difficulties, the only problem was the transportation from my home to the school. Initially I was scared since it could have split or something else might have happened, but it reached school safely. The next challenge for my group was actually the sale of the desserts, as the break started it was kind of slow but it picked up pace and we earned a decent amount  of profit, but we didn’t think that we should just donate the profit we decided to donate everything which was a total sum of 4700Rs to the charity “C.S Parekh and R.S Parekh Public Charitable Trust”. The charity maily helps poor girls with education and food, since gender equality is an issue worldwide we decided that it would be one of the best causes and it also contributes to No poverty and Zero hunger. contributing made me feel better about myself and made me more confident about a few other things.
