Feeding stray dogs- service

Ever since I got a dog, my fear of dogs went away and I started caring about dogs and have been very fond of them ever since, during covid I saw hoe dogs were suffering, due to lockdown they were left on the streets and it had a huge impact on them. After lockdown ended, the first thing I decided to do was feed stray dogs and go on food drives where they give proper care to the stray dogs.

LO 1:

We had to improve our communication skills in order to interact effectively with the community and seek support for animal welfare initiatives. I also need to increase your knowledge of animal behaviour and nutrition to ensure that the dogs are properly cared for. Another important area for growth is developing strategies for managing the emotional impact of working with feral animals. Seeing animals in distress was emotionally challenging, and I had need to learn coping skills to maintain my sanity and well-being.

LO 5:

Working together builds a sense of community and shared responsibility. By bringing people together and working towards a common goal, we felt a greater sense of connection and purpose in our work. This gave us more motivation and a sense of accomplishment when we got the positive result and saw the dogs playing with us and seeing their faces light up when they saw us giving them food. We learned how to communicate effectively with others and build relationships based on trust and respect. We also developed problem-solving skills to tackle complex challenges and work towards a helping the dogs.

LO6:Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

There are numerous global issues that we can address through our service work. One small way we can have an impact in the world is to feed stray animals. Feeding stray animals is a comparatively tiny gesture of compassion that can make a big difference. In addition to the animals being fed, they will also receive affection and attention. This act of kindness can contribute to a more caring world.

LO7:Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

When we choose to feed stray animals, we must consider the potential consequences for the animals and the surroundings. Feeding them can have a number of repercussions. For starters, it may cause those animals to become food-dependent and lose the ability to care for themselves. Second, it may draw other animals towards the area in pursuit of food, perhaps resulting in more competition over resources and violence. Finally, if the food we supply is not healthy or is not discarded properly, it might cause environmental issues. This was all kept in mind throughout the planning process.
