Deo tibba trek (activity)

In May 2022 my friends and I went to Manali to trek to the Deo tibba basecamp. I will always remember this trip because it was so memorable. The time I spent in the mountains allowed me to reflect on my life, my objectives, and my desires. I also had the opportunity to create many cherished moments with my friends.

LO1: I realized that my ability to maintain my balance—even over the course of six days I never fell once—was a strength. I was able to support myself with the walking stick. My area for improvement is endurance; I frequently became quite fatigued rapidly and I need to work really hard to build up my stamina so that if I go on a similar journey in the future, I can finish the walk without becoming as tired and enjoy the entire experience.

LO2 : Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Since there were 30 of us, I was unable to instruct everyone to stop frequently, so I had to exert physical effort on my part to maintain the pace. There were various health issues when at an altitude of 12000 feet, such as a fever. During those instances, I overcame the issue by asking the professors for assistance and adopting the necessary safe requirements

L04 : Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Perseverance was essential in this CAS experience; once we started climbing up, there was no turning back; we had to reach the topmost campsite, which required a lot of perseverance. On the fourth day of the trip, I had a bad stomach and found it difficult to walk that evening. But the next morning, I showed determination and completed the trek, albeit at a slower pace than usual. Friend’s and instructors’ encouragement helped me overcome these obstacles.

L7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Because I had no network or battery power on this trip, my phone was effectively rendered useless. This allowed me to live in the moment and become more aware of my surroundings. As a result, I was able to reconsider my actions and the impact they had. When we left the campsite, I was careful to pick up trash and keep the surroundings clean so that the beauty of the mountains could be preserved.

Overall, this was a fantastic experience for me, and one that I would gladly repeat. It was both exhilarating and a much-needed peaceful break in nature from my normal life as a DP student. The sights I saw on this trip were worth all of the pain and exhaustion.
