Cricket tournament (Project)(CAS)

Cricket is something my friends and I have been passionate about. we have been following cricket since my childhood. we took this opportunity to conduct a box cricket tournament. This tournament was for one day, and entry fees was ₹450 per person. There were 60 participants, 10 teams. Prize money was ₹5500 for the winning team. ₹2700 was given to the runner’s up team. After all of the expenses which includes food, water, turf rent, and trophies, the remaining amount was donated in form of food to the poor people. Additionally, the management for the tournament took around 1 month to gather enough participants for tournament, to do marketing and manage food, water and tea.

LO 1 is Identify own strength and develop areas of growth. I identified my weakness which is my organizational skills which were developed by conducting a box cricket tournament. My strength is communication skills, this helped me because communicating with participants was one of the most important skills to make them understand the rules and also system of the tournament.

LO 2 is Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. The main challenge faced in the tournament was to get the target audience interested in the tournament, we used many social media applications to get my tournament known. It was tough to organize a tournament as I never did any similar project before and had zero experience about the same.  Through contacting many friends and promoting the tournament on their social media accounts, I got many inquiries about the tournament. Through this CAS experience I was able to experience new challenges and get solutions to overcome them. I have built an incredible network of friends and from the next tournament, it will be easier as I can contact them to get their teams registered in my tournament.

LO 3 is Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience. To overcome my weakness of being unorganized I planned everything from the start and noted it, so that i don’t forget them. In the process of organizing the CAS experience, planning was hard because I had to talk to turf to reduce their rent and also chose turf for a 6 a side cricket match. Secondly, the promotion of the tournament was pretty tough as I went all in thinking of what we would do so that we would recognize our target audience and they get registered. This was our very first tournament so it was very tough for me as I never did something like this before, but from now on it will be very easy as we already got recognized, so we have to only call the previous tournament team captain and ask them to register their teams. A simple strategy I used to get the team was to make “shortage”, i always told the team captain that their only few places left to get registered and they would get registered faster.

LO 4 is show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experience. Marketing of the tournament was one of the most difficult and time taking thing. it was hard to reach our target market so that they get registered for the cricket tournament. As of that, we had to reach a lot of influencers and market page to promote our product in Surat. It took a lot of time and efforts and during the process we had to be committed to the process while trusting our skills.

LO 5 is Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively. working collaboratively, has allowed us to divide our work and master what we have to do, which improves the quality of work and makes sure that the Burden is divide among the team equally.

LO 6 is Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance. India is a country that has a lot of serious problem of hunger, hence to solve the problem all the profit generated from the tournament will be donated in form of homemade food packages.

LO 7 is Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

Through this CAS experience I was able to witness my weakness and my strength for areas of development . Through the tournament I was able to help poor people by providing them with one meal and also this CAS experience would be a great opportunity for me to learn cooking to make home made food for the poor people.
