Recycled Floor or Night Lamp/Creativity/CAS

When we encounter these lamps in our homes, they usually have a flawless shape like a shed on top, a specific height of 5-6 feet, and a wooden tripod base beneath. I discovered that television can also be used as a source of light, so I decided to create a lamp out of a television box and other scraps with a modern and retro style.

LO1:I identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth: In Jodhpur, India, there is a billionaire corporation called “Priti International.” The company creates interior decor items by developing and fabricating items from product waste created by industries and the motor sector. I first learned about this on television, and it was there that I was truly motivated. This television box, as well as the metal pipes below, were found in a scrap yard. I put them all together and came up with an idea in my head.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:Refurnishing a disused television box composed of hard plastic allowed me to exercise my imagination. Instead of using it for its original purpose, I repurposed it as a lamp. Here, I honed my creative thinking skills by experimenting with the holes in the television and their impact.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience: During my regular school days, I would frequently see merchants roaming the streets with these televisions on their carts. I created this lamp at home by scribbling a crude sketch on paper and taking my concept to a local welder. I spoke with him and provided him the measurements; he was instrumental in the creation of this product.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences: I demonstrated commitment by working on this design for two days outside of my house; this demonstrates ownership of my work; it was not about completing the CAS experience; it was about improving my design.

LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance:Today, climate change is having an impact on our lives, yet humans are at the root of these changes. The increase in global warming induced by the production of plastic rubbish has an impact on both ourselves and the environment. The plastic outer casing of televisions has been recycled to alleviate this issue.
