Learning A new Sport

Learning new sports always excited me and when in 11th the physical sports resumed in school I knew this was the best opportunity for me to learn a new sport. That’s when I decided I would learn basketball. Team sports and specially which were played using a ball always caught my attention.

I knew how to dribble as I played basketball a bit with my friends but I never knew how to play properly. With a month I knew my strengths and weaknesses, I knew that I was short so I could become a rebounder as my jump would also be less, however I had good ball control. That’s when I decided to play as a controller.

My friend and I both joined basketball at the sametime. In some sessions we felt like we were better off playing football as there were many players who played better than us so we got less playing opportunities however we practiced, went to basketball classes for a few months and soon we made it to the school basketball team.

Basketball taught me how focused you should be, how to read the opponent’s mind and guess what his move would be. Basketball is a fast game so it also taught me to make decisions fast so that points could be scored.

Overall this experience helped me explore my strengths and weaknesses and helped me learn a new sport
