IPMUN – IPL auction

I participated in International peace MUN as team owner of Gujarat Titans in the committee of IPL auction house. In this committee we made teams based on the players skill set and rating and then a simulation was run to determine the victors. Me and my friends participated in this committee and came in 1st runner up.

Everyone around me is obsessed with cricket, as a child my entire family would sit together to watch when India played or IPL but I was never fond of cricket, as a result I had minimal knowledge about the players in the auction. Lucky for me my teammates had ample amount of knowledge, and I acted as budget manager since I already loved math. As I knew I had to manage the budget enough to buy all the players, with the use of spending less early on and more later on higher rated players, we were able to finish up a team ready to compete against the top contenders.

LO5:

As a team my friends acted on the correct players to buy and I told them how they could spend it based on the need of the player in the team and the rating. This made it easy for the time in the auction as we knew exactly when we could go over the spending limit of each player. As a result our team came in second place with only a difference of 0.2 points.
