Small Scale Activity for hearing & speech Impaired Children.

I joined a small group of grade 12 students , and planned out a session for hearing and speech impaired children and conduct some games, diya painting, and other enjoyable activities. The resources available at the school we visited for this project were adequate for providing basic teaching.

LO2: Since none of our group had any experience with sign language, communication was extremely difficult. However, with the assistance of the school caregivers, we learned some fundamental signals, such as “thank you,” and this helped us build a stronger relationship with the kids. We learned a lot about how they deal with their obstacles and go about their daily lives spite of the fact that were impaired in some or the other way.

LO3 : Planning the event in advance was beneficial because it made the occasion go smoothly. We had to keep in mind that the kids get up at 5 (am), so by the time of this event, if they aren’t kept entertained creatively, they would probably feel tired and bored, which is something we absolutely want to prevent. Additionally, the difficulty in communicating worsens our situation. Planning and organizing were necessary, and we were able to improve our abilities through the experience.

LO5 : Collaboration was the glue that held this event together. One of the grade 12 students who organised it helped allocate us to the positions we would be most effective in. I think that was a wise choice; we were all assigned tasks and knew exactly what needed to be done. This reduced the workload, which was beneficial.

All in all this was a greatly planned event , and greatly executed one as well , we all felt that warmth when they smiled and heartfully enjoyed the gesture we expressed towards them.
