Cycling (Activity)

Cycling is one of my favorite activities but during the lockdown, I had to take a break from it. After the pandemic was over and everything went back to being normal, I decided to start cycling again to get in touch with my fitness. This experience helped me become physically active again. I decided to cycle for 2 consecutive weeks.

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I used to be an athlete and a swimmer so I had some degree of fitness which made me recognize my weaknesses. I reflected on my level of endurance and identified that I need to improve it for increased distances.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Trying to be active again after a long time was challenging for me because I had lost most of my strength and stamina. At times it would be demotivating as well but I knew that taking up this challenge would bring me closer to my goal and the end result would be very satisfying. Patience is also something I struggle with but over time my physical fitness started improving and I was very happy with my journey and growth.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

I am an organized person so fitting cycling into my schedule was easy. I would wake up early before school and cycle for 30 mins. This way I didn’t have to change my existing routine and none of my tasks to be done were hindered.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Being committed to this wasn’t simple. There were times I wanted to give up because I wouldn’t show any progress. Working out requires a lot of patience and perseverance, I would not want to wake up so early in the morning in the beginning, but I realized that if wanted to become fit again I had to show commitment to this. After that, I continued to get up every day no matter how difficult it was, and then it became a part of my daily routine.
