Anand Utsav

Anand Utsav was an event we organised for the support staff and admin staff at Fountainhead. We felt they often go unappreciated and deserve to have a day of fun and joy for themselves. The support and admin staff work very hard and their continuous efforts are integral to the smooth functioning of our school. Since this is my last year at FS I wanted to do this event to show my gratitude to the didis and bhaiyas that helped me when I was just a little girl.

L3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.

Our core team was made of 6 people who initiated this experience. When the idea came to us we were all excited and stormed with ideas of what we could to do to make this event memorable. Planning was the most important part of this event and our thorough attention to detail while planning is what helped us execute the event smoothly. From the start we maintained a spreadsheet to keep track of our ideas, schedule, to-dos, resources, etc. We had the event for support staff and admin staff happening simultaneously at different locations. To ensure that the right people, resources, decorations were there at the right place meticulous planning was required. In total we set up about 20 different stalls so we had to plan the resources for each.

L5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

It was wonderful working in a team of people who were all so motivated to make this event a success. Even though there were many times when we had disagreements we moved past it by coming back to our original purpose, to provide a good experience to the support and admin staff. The benefit of working collaboratively is that everyone could focus on what they are good at and play to their strengths. This way people got to do what they enjoy doing and are able to do well. Some people were good at arts and spend more time making charts and decor. Some were better at talking to people, managing and organising resources, etc. By understanding each of our strengths we were able to work collaboratively.

L7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

We had this event because we felt the support staff deserved to have something to enjoy the way we have school nightouts, first days and other celebrations. Looking back, I’m so glad we decided to do this. The happiness of the support staff while they were playing the games, enjoying tug of war, dancing to music, it all showed the power of people to make other people happy. This event filled them with so much joy and I will remember their smiles for days. All the people were so happy, laughing around and there was genuine happiness in them. I feel it is our responsibility to give back to the people who work so hard for us, they work tirelessly and I’m grateful we were able to give them this opportunity to relax, enjoy and make memories with their friends.
