Description of the particular experience and goals:
I’ve always been interested in feminism, so I started an Instagram page called “feeling like a feminist.” The page’s goal is to empower women. I wanted to raise awareness about true feminism because it is widely misunderstood these days. On the account, I plan, create, and post content such as videos, reels, and images about women’s empowerment.

Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Throughout the experience, I was able to identify my own strengths and weaknesses. I discovered that I am skilled at creating content that is appropriate for my audience and effectively communicates the idea I want to convey. My strength distinguishes my account because the content is quite creative. However, I realized that I am not very good at handling social media. I noticed that my views were fluctuating as a result of my lack of consistency with my content. I knew I had to overcome my weakness now that I was aware of it. To overcome my weakness, I conducted online research on how to maintain my views and interact with the audience. I learned about Instagram’s algorithm and started posting content according to it. In the end, I was able to overcome my weakness and engage more with the audience.
Learning Outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Maintaining an Instagram account is not as simple as it appears. It takes a lot of time and energy because I have to decide what idea I want to convey, plan the type of content I want to post, create the content, and then post it. I must ensure that the content I create is different from that of other pages. It was difficult for me to keep my target audience engaged because I had never done anything like this before. I also had to manage my schoolwork, which was difficult because I lacked the mental capacity to do so much work at once. I eventually improved the quality of my work by researching about it, visiting similar pages, and learning from them. With time, I also grew comfortable to working a lot, so it was no longer a challenge. I’m glad I faced these challenges because they taught me how to adapt to new situations and improve myself.
Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
I’ve always been interested in feminism because it is very personal to me. However, I noticed that people have many misconceptions about feminism, so I decided to start my own page about feminism and women empowerment that conveyed the ideas of real feminism and cleared up societal misconceptions. It was not difficult to initate the experience because I had the necessary leadership skills. However, planning was a bit of a challenge because this was my first time doing something like this, so I had to do a lot of primary and secondary research.I needed to know what kinds of misconceptions people have in order to dispel them, as well as what content people enjoy. It took a lot of time and effort, but it was necessary.Initiating and planning future experiences will be much easier for me now since I know what the process is like. I think that it is important to learn how to initiate and plan so that you can take action for things you believe in without anyone´s support.
Learning Outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
The global issue that I am focusing on is gender inequalities. It is faced by women all across the globe since years and it needs to be stopped. Being a women, I have also faced these inequalities and I wanted to create a change hence I took the action. Understanding this issue helped my personal growth since I will not be discriminating other genders and I will become more open-minded. I am glad that I learned about the severity of this issue because now I can spread awareness and take action to stop the discrimination.
Learning Outcome 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
As a feminist, I believe it is my responsibility to dispel common misconceptions about feminism. I made the decision to speak out against aggressive feminism. Aggressive feminism and male shaming is a false concept in my opinion, and I chose to take action against it. I started my own page that promotes true feminism and raises awareness about equality for all people, not just women.
Final Takeaway
Creating an Instagram account about feminism is an experience that helped me a lot. I developed the learner profile attributes of knowledgeable and risk taker. I was knowledgeable since I gained understanding on how to manage social media and post unique content with the help of secondary research. I was a risk taker since feminism is a very controversial topic due to the misunderstandings people have regarding it, however because it was something that I believe in, I took the risk to stand up against the haters and speak my truth. This experience helped spread awareness about real feminism and the importance of equality in society. Overall, this experience benefited both me and the society.
