Huzaifa’s basketball practice

I have been playing basketball since Grade 3 and have played till 9th grade but recently due to coronavirus and lockdown I haven’t been able to practice or play basketball, I decided to practice and sharpen my skills in basketball, decided to do some basic drills like layups, dribble, bounce pass, chest pass, over the head pass and free throws, I noticed at the start I wasn’t able to get any baskets but by the end of my training, I got better and by the end of my practice.

LO 1 –
Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth. I understood my skills, my weaknesses and strategized my practice that focused more on shooting and lesser on passing and dribbling as in those skills I was well versed.

LO 2 –
Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
I did many shooting practices and dribbling, and I did this to have control on the ball so that in a match I would have better mobility and movement making it difficult for the opposition to take the ball from me, I practised the shooting so I would be more accurate and would learn different types of shooting, for example, layup, dunk, 3 pointer, free throw and many more.

LO 3-
Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
I created a detailed plan to understand what skills I should focus on and what I should do to
I decided to work most on shooting and passes and lesser on the attack, defend and dribble.

LO 4-
. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences.
I had shown perseverance by working hard and continuously practising basketball, I had been shooting baskets from different points so I would learn how to shoot more accurately, I also dribbled a lot to get perfect control on the ball, I committed to learning basketball and practised a lot to refine my skills.

LO 5-
5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
I have been practising with 2 of my friends so we had collaboratively practised and explained my mistakes so that I would improve faster and even better, they explained to me my shooting method was wrong and my bounce pass wasn’t landing correctly.
