Painting | Creativity

Painting was like my day to day go since I was a kid. However, for a long time, I used to procrastinate a lot due to the never-ending stream of assignments and examinations. But, then comes the lockdown (COVID-19) where I got the opportunity to consume all of my time in paintings. I completed a bunch of paintings on canvas/drawing paper to support sustainability. I made 3 small paintings, 16 poloroid paintings, 1 abstract painting and a few randoms. Learning how to paint and sketch gave me perseverance and patience. Because I was committed to doing everything perfectly. Since, doing painting requires a lot of concentration and patience. I also developed time management skills with thinking skills.

LO1:

  • I already knew the basic technique of painting like different strokes, types of wash etc. My strength towards painting helped me to stretch my skills towards a more professional way. However, this also helped me to sharpen my skills and weaknesses to provide a better outcome of painting. I need to ensure my strength and weakness in order to function properly. My strength helped me to gain more self-confidence and helped me to understand what is wrong and right whereas, recognizing my weakness is also mandatory in order to improvise what is holding me back so that it can help me work upon the same.

LO2 :

  • At first, it was very difficult to blend the colours (especially for watercolours) because we need to maintain the concentration of water we are using to blend, I kept trying/saving drafts and eventually I started developing my strength towards blending colours. However, youtube and pinterest were the best inspiration for me, perhaps learning new techniques and selecting my best drawing which I could recreate. The most challenging part throughout the process was blending and drawing since it was very time-consuming and a very minor mistake can lead to scrapping of painting. Throughout this process, I learned many things which I have never learned before or known before.

LO3 :

  • I am a very messy person when it comes to painting, it was very difficult for me to organize everything and with that I used to procrastinate loads. But on a very fine day, I had a thought of starting to take an initiative by myself because everything is only what you are supposed to do and from that day I was all in the mood for starting my pending process and I ended up with very beautiful drawings.

LO7 :

  • At the very beginning, I used pinterest to find the best painting which suits my liking and eventually I started recreating them on my own. After recreating a couple of drawings I realized that copyright would be the major issue, so I decided to modify a few drawings on my own which suits the actual one. To ensure academic honesty I modified all the paintings.

Overall, taking up this initiative was very beneficial since this has resolved all my weaknesses and improvise on what is perfect with all the ethical consideration. My personal connection throughout the journey was very exciting since I learned new techniques using acrylic and watercolor. I also tried fluid art to enhance my hand movement in order to bring out the best texture/ pattern possible. This has provided me with a lot of benefits in order to have successful products.
