Trekking

Trekking is an activity that requires a lot of physical fitness. I wanted to go on a trek for a long time as I love the adventure and its beauty. It just fascinates me. So I chose trekking as an activity for a CAS experience.

I went on the trek with a huge group of friends and it was a mountain climb near the nepal border where the whole himalayan range was clearly visible. It started from 6000 feet adn its peak was at 12000 feet and it lasted for more than a week in which I had a blistering experience.

For the trek, me and my friends had to plan many things such as transport, stay, and meal areas. We used whatsapp to communicate with each other and organise every part of the trek through documents and other resources. As we were a group it became very easy to plan the whole thing which is also generally the case where a group works better than an individual although we had some difference in opinions, we did come to a consensus. Not just in planning but during the trek also, everyone one worked collaboratively and was helping each other for even small things and sharing water, carrying each others’ luggage, helping them walk through the terrain etc.

When it came to initiating, we all had to struggle a bit as there were a lot of customs that we had to go through for the trek and that was something that even a bunch of people cannot do with ease.

This activity required a lot of commitment and perseverance from my side. There were several reasons for it such as high altitude sickness, constant long and tiring walks on rough terrains everyday, sub-zero cold weather, living in tents. Also, the trek was the 2 longest trek in India making it more difficult. The biggest commitment everyone had to make was to keep pushing on and on as we had long walks on rocky terrains everyday which was tiring with our luggage with us. Although that commitment was extremely difficult, no one failed at it and were even persistent throughout  as each one of us wanted to complete the trek and being together kept us super motivated all along.

Finally, I think that being committed and persistent towards a thing is difficult, but the purpose it serves makes it worthwhile and do-able. Adding on, the whole experience becomes a great memory especially when there are people together to share them. SO for me the experience was exhilarating and taught me life lessons too.

Here are some photos of it:
