Lego has been one of the best stress busters as well as a fun way to spend some time learning and developing imagination. I always wanted and moved to innovate in lego. And recently I started to create miniature lego vending machines which would give you a candy for 1 coin you put in. It was a new experience to create something purely based on your imagination.
LO -1 : Identify your own strengths and develop areas for growth. I have been into lego since I was 8 and I have built quite a lot of complex lego builds thus based on that I had a lot of pre experience in lego building and could imaginate different mechanisms for the vending machines to work as they are intended.
LO -2 : Demonstrate that Challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. At first I had all the imagination in my mind of the mechanism but while putting it together the mechanisms failed horribly so I had to rethink them and watch a few tutorials on youtube in order to make it work, as the mechanisms worked I had to use substitute parts as some of the intended parts for the machine weren’t available. I had to think of quick substitute parts in order to finish the project on time.
LO -3 : Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience. When I first started this project I had to plan and dedicate my time to different things such as finding the availability of parts, or thinking about the mechanism and the design of the final product.
LO -4 : Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences. I had to commit myself to doing this as it was a bit time consuming and I had to also give a lot of time daily, about 1 to 2 hours to complete the project within the time period given.
In the end I developed even more skills in Lego and I could have done it way better by watching tutorials at the beginning to save the time I lost by imagining myself. I also could have better evaluated the availability of parts so that my time management could have been spot on.
